Primary Water Polo allows primary school aged children the chance to play a modified version of water polo, primarily within the shallow end of the pool. It is designed to help children develop swimming and ball-handling skills, while learning to work with others as part of a team. A typical session will start with activities designed to develop fitness and skills and conclude with a game where children can put what they have learned into practice.
For the 2019-2020 season, Primary Water Polo will be offered at the Northside pools, in conjunction with Auqualification (Northside). Primary Water Polo will take place on Thursdays from 4:30-5:30pm, starting October 10th and running every week during Terms 4 and 1. It will cost $8 per child, per session, which includes their pool entry. To make it more affordable, regulars and families with multiple children can save money by purchasing a 10 session punchcard for only $70; however, punchcards can only be used at the pool where you purchased them. New players are welcome to join throughout the season!
Primary Water Polo is designed for children who are in Years 2-7, although it may still be appropriate for slightly older and younger children. To participate, it is important that the child can comfortably touch the bottom of the pool and has basic swimming skills (e.g., can swim the width of the pool). If you are unsure of if your child is ready for the sport, we recommend that you come and observe or participate in a session and then seek the advice of the coaching staff.
